K2 Tall Mountain Expedition

Just days before the team is to depart for London and Islamabad, friends of
Chuck and Linda Boyd gathered at Indian Cove in Guilford, Connecticut for a
Bon Voyage party hosted by Eric and Deborah Wolff. Lifelong friends from
Rhode Island, and throughout New England, were treated to a gourmet BBQ and
an evening of fun and reminiscence around the bonfire.

Chuck and Linda checked out the Marmot Thor dome tent, that Chuck will be
using in basecamp, and gave satisfactory reports.

The next day, supporters met in town for a hearty breakfast, all wearing
their expedition T-Shirts. The color blue dominated the upstairs at Cafe
Grounded.

Afterwards, everyone pitched in to cut, coil and label the more than 1000
meters of ropes that will be used on the mountain. Special thanks to Paul
Niland and Doug Madara of Sterling Ropes for the donation of this critical
technical equipment. Other sponsors on display included Turtle Fur Group of
Vermont and Ski Sundown of New Hartford, Connecticut.

Last-minute errands and serious packing and luggage weighing are rapidly
taking up the last hours. The team has acquired a High-Definition digital
video camera that will greatly enhance the multimedia opportunities while
documenting the journey.

On Wednesday, the team departs for JFK and the K2 Tall Mountain Expedition
is on its way!!
